Who we are
Allen Accountants was formed in 2021, previously MGB Accountants (Stonehouse) Ltd, when we took over the practice of IT Tax and Accountants in Stonehouse. We soon moved offices to the Bonds Mill Estate, and have organically grown and taken on another sole practitioner JHF Accounting back in 2022. It started with Emma and Paul, and has now become a sole practice with Emma Allen at the helm. We have recently also taken over a practice in Nailsworth due to the director of Accountants and Taxation Agents Ltd retiring, so we are looking forward to a new challenge.
The firm's main focus is to deliver a personable, proactive and professional service. All of our work is undertaken on a fixed fee basis, so our clients always know where they stand regarding our charges – most electing to pay their fees by monthly standing order. As a firm, we do not keep timesheets, so there is no “clock ticking” when we are talking to our clients – and we find that this helps our clients know that they can contact us to discuss issues in the knowledge that they will not receive a bill for the time!

Emma Allen (FCCA)
Emma founded Allen Accountants back in 2021 along with her business partner. With more than 20 years in practice, Emma took the helm at the Stonehouse office managing the team there and growing the business, and in 2025 Emma and her business partner separated, with Emma taking over on her own. Emma deals with a portfolio of clients for VAT, Accounting, Payroll and general tax advice for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. Outside of work, Emma enjoys walking her dogs and baking;

Ben Edwards (FCCA)
Ben joined Allen Accountants in 2021 (but has been an integral part of the team at IT Tax & Accountancy since 2018) Ben’s role includes managing a portfolio of clients for accounts, tax returns, VAT and general tax advice for individuals, sole traders and limited companies. Outside of work, Ben is kept busy with his three children. He is an avid Manchester United fan and likes to watch Comic book films and TV series.

Hui Zhang
Hui joined Allen Accountants in 2022 with five years of experience in the industry working in Shanghai. At MGB, Hui is responsible for monthly bookkeeping and quarterly VAT returns, having previously gained experience in Payroll and CIS preparation. Hui has passed her ACCA exams and is looking to gain experience to become a member. Outside of work, Hui enjoys spending time with her family. She also enjoys jogging, swimming and baking.

Sarah Edgell
Sarah joined Allen Accountants in August 2024 with over a decade’s experience in schools’ finance, followed by bookkeeping and finance admin roles in two privately owned companies. At MGB Sarah is responsible for monthly and weekly payroll, CIS returns and pension submissions as well as assisting with bookkeeping and VAT return preparation. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking and watching live music.
